67k | Med-moored at Barcelona, Spain, on July 11, 1979, alongside the Farragut-class guided missile destroyer USS King (DDG-41). Though they looked quite different, both were built as guided missile "frigates" (DLG) -- the Leahys being, in fact, the immediate successors to the Farraguts. On June 30, 1975, the Leahys were reclassified as "cruisers", while the Farraguts became "destroyers". Note Richmond K. Turner was fitted with Harpoon launchers aft, replacing 3"/50 twin gun mounts. | Fabio Peņa

79k | The forward superstructure had an impressive appearance. This photo (taken at Barcelona, Spain, on Nov. 29, 1980) shows the ASROC launcher, the forward pair of SPG-55B missile guidance radars (one of them partially hidden by a SATCOM antenna), the SPS-48 3D radar, and a set of ESM/ECM antennas, some of them covered under radomes, some uncovered, and some cantilevered out from the ship's structure. | Fabio Peņa
