Pillsbury 17k A boarding party from Pillsbury (DE 133) works to secure a tow line to the newly captured German U-505 on June 4, 1944. The capture was made by Guadalcanal (CVE 60) (Capt. Dan Gallery), while on patrol in the Atlantic off the coast of Africa. Pillsbury and Chatelain (DE 149) assisted. It was the only submarine captured by the U.S. Navy in World War II.
