  • Launched, 18 June 1944
  • Commissioned USS Towner (AKA-77), 3 December 1945, CDR. Robert Park Erdman in command
  • During World War II USS Towner was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater:
    TransRon Nineteen, COMO C. D. Edgar USN (12);
    TransDiv Fifty-Five
  • Following World War II USS Towner was assigned to Occupation and China service in the Far East for the following periods:
