  • Laid down, date unknown, as a Maritime Commission type (C1-M-AV1) hull, under Maritime Commission contract (MC hull 2120) at Walter Butler Shipbuilders, Inc., Superior, WI.
  • Launched, 28 July 1944
  • Commissioned USS Hidalgo (AK-189), 4 August 1945, at Galveston, TX., LCDR. A. Olsen, USNR in command
  • Decommissioned, 26 April 1946, at Norfolk, VA.
  • Stuck from the Naval Register, 8 May 1946
  • Transferred to the Maritime Commission for disposal
  • Merchant Service
    Sold in 1947 to the Republic of Turkey for $693,862.00, passed to Deniz Nakliyati T.A.O., Turkey, reflagged Turkish and renamed MV Rize
    MV Rize with her sister ships MV Malatya [ex-USS Bullock (AK-165)], MV Kars [ex-USS Antrim (AK-159]. and MV Kastamonu [ex-USS Criaghead (AK-175) provided regular service between Turkey and Northern Europe for approximately 15 years
  • Final Disposition, scrapped in August 1982 at Aliaga, Turkey
