  • Laid down, 14 February 1945, as SS Mills Victory, a Maritime Commission type (VC2-S-AP2) hull, under Maritime Commission contract (MCV 741), at Permanente Medals Corp., Richmond, CA.
  • Launched, 28 March 1945
  • Delivered to the War Shipping Administration, 21 April 1945, for operation by the American Hawaiian Steamship Co.
  • Acquired by the US Army Transportation Service and commissioned USAT Sgt Morris E. Crain, 8 June 1946
  • Decommissioned by the US Army and acquired by the US Navy, 1 March 1950
  • Placed in service, 1 March 1950, by the Military Sea Transportation Service (MSTS) as USNS Sgt. Morris E. Crain (T-AK-244)
  • Placed out of service, 11 March 1975, custody transferred to MARAD, laid up in the National Defense Reserve Fleet, Suisun Bay, Benecia, CA.
  • Struck from the Naval Register, 1 April 1975
  • Permanent custody transferred to MARAD, 17 July 1975
  • Final Disposition, sold for scrapping, 17 July 1975, to General Metals of Tacoma, WA., delivered, 1 September 1975
