  • Laid down, 15 January 1945, as a Maritime Commission type (C1-M-AV1) hull, under Maritime Commission contract (MC hull 2464) at Consolidated Steel Corp. Wilmington, CA.
  • Launched, 3 March 1945
  • Delivered to the United States Steamship Lines, 18 May 1945
  • Commissioned by the US Army USAT Short Splice (date unknown)
  • Decommissioned by the US Army and acquired by the US Navy, 1 March 1950
  • Placed in service by the Military Sea Transportation Service (MSTS) as USNS Short Splice (T-AK-249)
  • Placed out of service, 29 June 1973, at Sasebo, Japan
  • Returned to the MARAD for disposal
  • Struck from the Naval Register, 15 June 1973
  • Final Disposition, sold for scrapping, 31 July 1973, to Fuji Marden Co. Ltd., Hong Kong, B.C.C.
