  • Laid down, 19 May 1945, as Norwalk Victory, a Maritime Commission type (VC2-S-AP3) hull, under Maritime Commission contract (MCV hull 696) at Oregon Shipbuilding, Portland, OR.
  • Launched, 10 July 1945
  • Delivered to the War Shipping Administration, 7 August 1945
  • Chartered under Government Agency Agreement contracts
  • Wrecked in the Schelde River, France in 1947, raised and repaired
  • Laid up in the National Defense Reserve Fleet, James River Group, 21 October 1947
  • Transferred to the US Navy, 10 October 1962
  • Fitted out at New Orleans, LA. as a Fleet Ballistic Missile Cargo Ship to support FBM Submarine Tenders at Holy Loch and Rota
  • Placed in service with MSC as USNS Norwalk (T-AK-279), 30 December 1963
  • Placed out of service, circa 1970
  • Struck from the Naval Register, 1 August 1979
  • Laid up in the National Defense Reserve Fleet, James River, Fort Eustis, VA; Title Transfer to MARAD, 10 September 1979
  • Final Disposition, sold for scrapping, 8 September 1973, to Global Marketing Systems Inc., for $316.801.00 under MA contract # MA-12610
