Laid down in 1944 for the US Army at Kewaunee Shipbuilding and Engineering Corp., Kewaunee, WI.
Delivered to the US Army as Coastal Freighter FS-257 in 1945
Acquired from by the US Navy, 12 December 1951
Named Alhena (AKL-38), and loaned to the Republic of Korea that same day
Returned to US Naval custody in January 1960
Struck from the Naval Register, 1 February 1960
Final Disposition, sold for scrapping in June 1960 to Hong Kong Rolling Mills, Ltd.
Displacement 550 t.
Speed 12 kts.
Propulsion two 500hp GM Cleveland Division 6-278A 6-cyl V6 diesel engines, twin screws
