Aloe Class Net Laying Ship: Laid down, 18 October 1940, at American Shipbuilding Co., Cleveland, OH.; Launched, 22 February 1941; Commissioned USS Redwood (YN-25), 12 December 1942; Reclassified Net Laying Ship (AN-30), 20 January 1944; Decommissioned, 6 June 1947, at Green Cove Springs FL.; Laid up in the Atlantic Reserve Fleet, Florida Group, Green Cove Springs; Struck from the Naval Register, (date unknown); Transferred to the Maritime Administration for lay up in the National Defense Reserve Fleet; Final Disposition, fate unknown.


Specifications: Displacement 560 t.(fl) 805 t.(fl); Length 163' 2"; Beam 30' 6"; Draft 11' 8"; Speed 12 kts; Complement 48, Armament one single 3"/50 gun mount, three single 20mm gun mounts, two depth charge throwers; Propulsion, diesel, single propeller.
