Suamico Class Fleet Oiler: Laid down, 17 April1943, as a Maritime Commission type (T-2-SE-A1) tanker hull, under Maritime Commission contract, (MC hull 544), at Alabama Dry Dock and Shipbuilding Co., Mobile, AL.; Launched, 15 September 1943; Delivered to the Maritime Commission, 29 October 1943; Operated by American Trading and Production Corp., Baltimore, MD.; Acquired by the Navy, 6 April 1948; Placed in service by the Naval Transportation Service as USNS Sappa Creek (T-AO-141), 28 April 1948, operated under charter by Marine Transport Lines; Operational control transferred to MSTS, 1 October 1949; Placed out of service, and returned to the Maritime Administration, 7 December 1959; Laid up in the National Defense Reserve Fleet, Suisun Bay, Benecia, CA.; Struck from the Naval Register, 1 July 1961; Final Disposition, fate unknown.

Specifications: Displacement 5,782 t.(lt) 21,880 t.(fl); Length 523' 6"; Beam 68'; Draft 30'; Speed 15.5kts; Complement 251; Armament one 5"/38 dual purpose gun mount, four 3"/50 guns, four twin 40mm gun mounts, four twin 20mm gun mounts; Capacity 140,000 barrels; Propulsion, turbo-electric, single screw. 8,000hp.
