  • Laid down in 1919 as SS Lake Fellowship a USSB hull design #1099-A under USSB contract (USSB hull #771) at American Ship Building Col., Cleveland, OH.
  • Named changed to SS Henry County prior to launching
  • Launched, 18 October 1919
  • Completed and placed in service in November 1919
  • Placed out of service in the mid-1920s, and laid up in the James River Reserve Fleet under the custody of the US Shipping Board
  • Commissioned USS Henry County, 27 May 1930, at Portsmouth, VA., CDR. B.V. McCandlish in command
  • Decommissioned at Navy Yard Mare Island, CA., 22 August 1930 and loaned to the State of California the same day
  • Renamed TS California State, 23 January 1931
  • Custody transferred to the Maritime Commission from the Navy, 30 June 1940
  • Renamed TS Golden State in December 1941
  • Returned to the Maritime Commission,12 August 1946, at the National Defense Reserve Fleet, Suisun Bay, Benecia, CA., name reverted to SS Henry County
  • Sold for commercial service, 19 November 1947, to the Panormitis SS Co., renamed SS Isle of Patmos
  • Reflagged Panama circa 1948
  • Resold in 1952 to Navebras SS. Co., renamed SS Santa Rosa, reflagged Brazil
  • Final Disposition, scrapped, in August 1962 in Brazil

    Henry County 144k TS California State moored at Washington Navy Yard, 7 April 1932, after a cruise around South America from her home station on the West Coast. While at Washington this newly-converted Merchant Marine training ship was to be inspected by government officials and her crew was to be received by President Hoover.
