Non-self propelled Storage Barge:
  • Laid down in October 1943 as a Maritime Commission type (B7-D1) concrete-hulled barge, under Maritime Commission contract (MC Hull 1338) at Barrett, Hilp & Belair Shipyard, South San Francisco, CA.
  • Named Corundum (IX-164), 7 February 1944
  • Launched, 25 March 1944
  • Renamed and redesignated Limestone (IX-158), 23 May 1944
  • Acquired by the Navy, 14 October 1944 and placed in service as Limestone (IX-158)
  • During World War II Limestone (IX-158) was towed to Subic Bay, Philippine Islands for service as a stores barge
  • Limestone (IX-158) was assigned to Joint Task Force 1, Task Unit 1.8.1 Service Group - Repair and Service Unit for Operation Crossroads the atomic bomb tests at Bikini Atoll in July 1946
  • Returned to the US in 1946
  • Placed out of service, 12 December 1946, at Seattle, WA.
  • Struck from the Naval Register, date unknown
  • Returned to the Maritime Commission and sold to Foss Launch & Tug Co., 11 September 1947
