  • Laid down, circa 1943, at Pacific Bridge, Alameda, CA.
  • Delivered and commissioned USS ARD-16, 1 February 1944, LCDR. Gerrard T. January, in command
  • During World War II USS ARD-16 was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and participated in the following campaigns:

    Asiatic-Pacific Campaign
    Campaign and Dates Campaign and Dates
    Marianas operation
    Capture and occupation of Saipan, 24 July to 1 August 1944
    Capture and occupation of Guam, 2 to 15 August 1944
    Western Caroline Islands operation
    Capture and occupation of southern Palau Islands, 6 September to 14 October 1944

  • Decommissioned, 1 July 1946 and placed in service
  • Placed out of service and struck from the Naval Register, 1 October 1972
  • Sold for scrapping, 1 March 1973, by the Defense Reutilization and Marketing Service
  • Resold to Bender Ship Building, Mobile, AL. for commercial service
  • Final Disposition, while laying partially submerged in the Gulf of Mexico, due west of Yankeetown, FL., during salvage operations by Blacksmith Marine Corp, Jacksonville, FL. a severe weather system knocked down both wing walls. She is now going to be cut up for scrap
  • USS ARD-16 earned two battle stars for Worle War II service
