  • Purchased by the US Navy in 1861, CDR. Benjamin H. Dove in command
  • During the Civil War USS Maria Denning was used as a receiving ship at Cairo, from 3 November 1861 to 1 April 1862
  • Transferred to the Army in December 1862
  • Maria Denning served as an Army Transport from 15 December 1862 to 6 April 1863
  • Final Disposition, burned at Algiers, LA., 11 May 1866
