  • Built in 1861 as the screw tug C. Vanderbilt, at Philadelphia, PA.
  • Launched, date unknown
  • Purchased for the Navy by RADM H. Paulding, 19 November 1863, at New York from Sarah J. Duvall and Mary S. Boggs, for $15,000
  • Renamed Lupin
  • No record of any naval service by the tug has been found
  • She remained in custody of the Navy until sold at public auction to F. S. Palmerston, 25 October 1865, for $5,500
  • Redocumented as C. Vanderbilt, 23 April 1866
  • Renamed Lewis S. Wandell, 16 July 1883
  • Sold to a foreign purchaser in 1884
  • Final Disposition, fate unknown
