  • Purchased for the Navy by RADM. S.H. Stringham at Boston, MA., 2 June 1864, for $20,000
  • Placed in service as the steam tug Unit, date unknown
  • Unit was assigned to the North Atlantic Blockading Squadron as a tug and repair vessel in Hampton Roads, VA., for the duration of the Civil War >
  • Unit was placed out of service at New York Navy Yard, 5 June 1865
  • Sold at public auction at New York City, 12 July 1865, to C. and E. T. Peters for $6,750
  • Redocumented as a merchant steamer, 6 September 1865, Unit remained in the New York area for her mercantile service until 1902
  • She was re-sold to Solomon Thomas from at least 1883-1888
  • Final Disposition, abaondoned in 1902
