  • Laid down in 1862 as the centerwheel steamer SS St. Charles at St. Louis, MO.
  • Purchased as SS Fanny by the US Navy, 9 April 1863, at Chicago, IL., from J. Van Vortwick
  • Delivered for conversion to a tin-clad at Mound City, IL., 13 April 1863
  • Renamed Paw Paw, 12 May 1863
  • Designated Gunboat No. 31, 19 June 1863
  • Commissioned USS Paw Paw, 25 July 1863, Acting Master Augustus F. Thompson in command
  • During the Civil War USS Paw Paw was assigned to the Mississippi Squadron
  • Decommissioned, 1 July 1865, at Mound City, IL.
  • Sold at public auction, 17 August 1865, to Samuel Nancil for $5,850
  • Final Disposition, fate unknown
