  • A hermaphrodite brig built by Messrs Maxon Fish & Co., Mystic, CT.
  • Sold, 29 July 1863, to the Navy while still on the builders ways
  • Delivered at New York Navy Yard, 30 September 1863,
  • Commissioned USS Governor Buckingham, 13 November 1863, Acting Volunteer LT. W. G. Saltonstall in command
  • USS Governor Buckingham was assigned to the North Atlantic Blockading Squadron, joining the fleet off Wilmingon, N. C. in early December 1863
    Captured blockade runner Antonica, 21 December 1863, with the assistance of USS Aries
    Governor Buckingham along with USS Fahkee destroyed grounded blockade runner Bendigo, 11 January 1864 and on the same day intercepted the British blockade runner Ranger in consort with USS Minnesota, USS Daylight and USS Aries
    Assisted in the destruction of the British blockade runner Black Hawk, 30 September 1864
    In December 1864 and in January 1865 USS Governor Buckingham took part in the attacks against Fort Fisher
  • Decommissioned, 27 March 1865, at Norfolk Navy Yard
  • Sold at public auction, 12 July 1865, at New York
  • Final Disposition, fate unknown
