Sidewheel Steamer:
  • Built, as SS Shamrock, date and location unknown
  • Launched, date unknown
  • Purchased at New York from Charles S. Leary 16 July 1864
  • Commissioned USS Isonomia at New York Navy Yard, 16 August 1864, LCDR. E. Simpson in command
  • USS Isonomia joined the North Atlantic Blockading Squadron at Beaufort, N.C., off New Inlet. N.C., 23 August 1864
  • Ordered south to Key West, 18 September, with special instructions to cruise in the vicinity of Nassau and the Bahama Banks
  • At Key West she was found unready for sea service and stationed at West Pass, FL. but soon returned to Key West to prepare for cruising in Bahama waters
  • At the end of January 1865 Isonomia was returned to coastal blockade duty off western Florida and continued this duty until the end of the war
  • Isonomia captured British bark George Douthwaite attempting to slip into the Warrior River with a cargo of contraband from Jamaica
  • Towing USS Somerset, she sailed for New York 9 June 1865
  • Decommissioned, 28 June 1865, at New York and sold at public auction to Tabor & Co., 12 July 1865
  • Final Disposition, foundered in 1867
