  • Built at Harmer, OH. in 1863 as the sternwheel steamer Ohio Valley
  • Launched, date unknown
  • Purchased, 10 December 1864 by the US Navy at Cincinnati, OH. from Theodore Johnson
  • Commissioned USS Ibex, 4 April 1865, at Mound City, IL., LCDR. R. L. May in command
  • After being placed in commission Ibex reported for duty with the Mississippi Squadron's 8th District, at Memphis, TN., 29 April 1865
  • While in the squadron Ibex assisted Rear Admiral S. P. Lee in attending to many of the innumerable tasks entailed in closing the Mississippi Squadron.
  • Decommissioned , 5 August 1865, at Mound City
  • Sold, 17 August 1865, at public auction at Mound City to Thompson Dean
  • Redocumented as Harry Dean, 5 October 1865
  • Final Disposition, lost when she exploded at Gallipolis, OH., 3 January 1868
