  • Laid down, 1 May 1935, as the Treasury Class Coast Guard Cutter Samuel D. Ingham at Philadelphia Navy Yard
  • Launched, 3 June 1936, christened by Ms. Katherine Ingham Brush
  • Commissioned, 12 September 1936, assigned to Bering Sea Patrol
  • Name shortened in May of 1937 Ingham
  • Assigned to Neutrality Patrols on the Grand Banks in September 1939
  • Reassigned to Weather Patrols in January 1940
  • 16 November through 31 December 1940, Ingham was rearmed at the Bethlehem Co. Plant in South Boston, receiving anti-submarine and increased anti-aircraft weaponry
  • Transferred for duty with the Navy, 1 July 1941
  • Ordered to Lisbon Portugal to protect U.S. nationals and maintain a U.S. presence in European waters
  • Reassigned to Convoy Escort duty in the North Atlantic in September 1941
  • Converted the an AGC (combined operations and communications headquarters Ship) in 1944 at Navy Yard, Charleston, S.C., re-designated as WAGC-35
  • Conversion work completed 21 October 1944, Ingham sailed for Norfolk for shakedown, departing Norfolk, 24 November for duty in the Pacific
  • Ingham participated in operations in the Philippines at Leyte, Mariveles-Corregidor, Lingayen Gulf, Panay, Zamboanga
  • Following the war Ingham underwent re-conversion for peacetime service at Charleston Navy Yard for duty on ocean-weather stations, April to July 1946
  • Following re-conversion to peace time service Ingham was assigned to ocean-weather station duty in the Atlantic
  • On 1 May 1965 Ingham was re-designated as High Endurance Cutters or WHEC
  • Assigned Coast Guard Squadron Three off Vietnam in 1968-1969, participating in Operation Market Time interdiction and coastal surveillance effort in Vietnam
  • Ingham returned to Norfolk, arriving there on 2 May 1969.
  • Ingham was homeported at Portsmouth, VA. were she served out the remainder of her Coast Guard career
  • Decommissioned, 27 May 1988
  • Current Disposition, turned over to the Patriots' Point Maritime Museum, Charleston, South Carolina as a museum ship. Currently located in Key West, FL, and maintained by USCGC Ingham Maritime Museum.

    324k Under the guns of Coast Guard combat cutter USCGC Ingham (WAGC-35) the rugged plateaus and steep cliffs off Corregidor stand at the mouth of Manila Bay. Landing craft, loaded with American invaders are visible close in shore, as a trap from the sea and sky closes on Japanese defending the fortress they won nearly three years ago. Paratroopers dropped on the plateau in coordination with the amphibious assault. February 16-17, 1945.
