CAPT. W. Shockey Snyder, USN
Commanding Officer

Captain Snyder graduated and received his commission from the United States Naval Academy in 1997. He earned a Master’s Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College in 2008.

Afloat CAPT Snyder served in USS BOONE (FFG-28), USS ASHLAND (LSD-48), USS THE SULLIVANS (DDG-68), and USS VICKSBURG (CG-69). He was Executive Officer and Commanding Officer of USS RODNEY M DAVIS (FFG-60), Commanding Officer of USS SIOUX CITY (LCS 11) Blue Crew, and he served as the Commander of Naval Surface Squadron FIVE, the ISIC for 14 Patrol Craft (PC) and Mine Countermeasure Ships (MCM) forward deployed in Manama, Bahrain.

Ashore, CAPT Snyder has served as an Officer Programs Recruiter for Naval Recruiting District New England, a Future Operations Planner on the staff of Special Operations Command, Africa in Stuttgart, Germany, and the Director of Future Operations for U.S. Naval Forces Central Command and U.S. FIFTH FLEET in Manama, Bahrain.

CAPT Snyder’s personal decorations include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
