USS San Antonio (LPD-17)


CDR. Neil A. Koprowski

CDR Neil Koprowski was raised in Selden, New York. He attended the United States Naval Academy where he graduated and received his commission in 1995.

His first tour of duty was aboard USS JOHN PAUL JONES (DDG 53) where he served as the Damage Control Assistant. In July 1998, CDR Koprowski reported aboard USS JUNEAU (LPD 10) as the Combat Information Center Officer.

CDR Koprowski obtained his Masters of Science Degree in Financial Management at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA.

In January 2002, CDR Koprowski reported aboard USS RODNEY M. DAVIS (FFG 60) and served an eighteen month tour as Chief Engineer and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Then in October 2003, he reported aboard USS ANZIO (CG 68) and served a nineteen month tour again as Chief Engineer.

In April 2005, CDR Koprowski reported to Carrier Strike Group Ten as the Flag Secretary.

CDR Koprowski’s tours ashore include the Office of the Under Secretary of the Navy for Appropriations Matters as a Congressional Liaison; U.S. Joint Forces Command Deployable Training Team (J7).

In Jun 2008, he completed his Joint Professional Military Education (JPME II) at the Joint Forces Staff College in Norfolk, Virginia.

CDR Koprowski’s awards include the Joint Service Commendation Medal; Navy Commendation Medal; Navy Achievement Medal and various unit and service awards.

CDR Koprowski reported on San Antonio in April 2010 as the ship’s Executive Officer and assumed command in December 2011.
