CAPT. German, Patrick L. USN
Commanding Officer

CAPT Patrick German is a native of Oklahoma City, OK and enlisted in the Navy in 1987 as a Hospital Corpsman. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2000. He has served aboard ships in the Pacific and Atlantic Fleets.

Ashore, CAPT German was assigned to Commander, Navy Reserve Forces Command, Inspectors General (IG) Office in New Orleans, LA. where he earned a Master of Arts in Organizational Development while attending the University of Phoenix. His next shore assignment was as the Operational Support Officer (OSO) in San Diego, CA. at Commander Naval Surfaces Forces U.S. Pacific Fleet. Following this tour, he reported to Seoul, Korea as Chief of Policy Integration at United States Forces Korea in the J5, U.S. Policy division. Most recently, he was assigned to the Pentagon, OPNAV N953 staff, Future Ships section.

Afloat, CAPT German was assigned to the Pascagoula, MS. based Frigate USS STEPHEN W. GROVES (FFG 29) as the Damage Control Assistant. His next tour was as Weapons and Force Protection Officer onboard USS JUNEAU (LPD 10) homeported in Sasebo, JA. His first department head tour was as the Engineer Officer aboard USS ROBERT G. BRADLEY (FFG 49) out of Mayport, FL. Following BRADLEY, he was selected for early command and served as Executive Officer on both USS PATRIOT (MCM 7) and USS AVENGER (MCM 1) in Sasebo, JA. before fleeting up to take command of AVENGER. He then served as Executive Officer on USS ASHLAND (LSD 48) and fleeted up as Commanding Officer of USS ASHLAND (LSD 48) on July 2nd 2018.

CAPT German’s personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4 awards) and various unit and campaign awards.
