Commanding Officer

A native of New Bedford, Massachusetts, Captain Moyer graduated from Cornell University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.

His sea duty assignments include Auxiliaries Officer in USS WADSWORTH (FFG 9), Operations Officer in USS OSPREY (MHC 51), First Lieutenant in USS FORT MCHENRY (LSD 43), Executive Officer in USS BLACK HAWK (MHC 58), Executive Officer in USS JUNEAU (LPD 10) and Commanding Officer in USS FORT MCHENRY (LSD 43).

His shore assignments include Officer Programs Officer for Naval Recruiting District Buffalo, New York, Commanding Officer, Navy Operational Support Center Earle, New Jersey, Assistant Chief of Staff in charge of Personnel and Manpower for Commander, Naval Surface Force Atlantic, and Branch Head for Surface Maintenance on the OPNAV staff.

He assumed duties as Deputy Commander, Expeditionary Strike Group SEVEN/Amphibious Force 7th Fleet in Aug 2014 where he served until May 2015 at which time he reported aboard USS GREEN BAY (LPD 20) as Executive Officer. He is a graduate of the Naval War College where he earned a Master's Degree in National Security Studies.

His personal awards include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal with three gold stars, Navy Commendation Medal with three gold stars, Navy Achievement Medal with 3 gold stars, and various other personal and unit awards.
