USS Germantown (LSD-42)

CDR. Jimmie J. Jensen III, USN

A native of Bridgeport, Nebraska, Commander Jensen graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science degree in General Science. Upon graduation, he was commissioned an Ensign in the US Navy and was designated a Surface Warfare Officer in 2002.

His sea assignments include Auxiliaries Officer in USS BRISCOE (DD 977), Training/Assistant Operations Officer in USS FORT MCHENRY (LSD 43), Operations Officer in USS HARPERS FERRY (LSD 49), Operations Officer (N3) in AMPHIBIOUS SQUADRON ELEVEN (COMPHIBRON 11), and Executive Officer in USS GERMANTOWN (LSD 42).

Ashore, CDR Jensen was assigned to the Navy Personnel Command, Surface Warfare Distribution (PERS 41) as the Placement Branch Head for Surface Placement. He also served as the Flag Secretary for Commander, Navy Installations Command at the Washington Navy Yard.

His personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal with four gold stars as well as multiple unit and service awards.

CDR Jensen is slated to report as the Commanding Officer of USS GERMANTOWN (LSD 42) forward deployed to Sasebo, Japan as part of the Surface Navy’s Command Fleet Up program.
