USS Oak Hill (LSD-51)



CDR. Bryan K. Carmichael USN
Commanding Officer

CDR Carmichael enlisted in the Navy in July 1985. He served on USS TARAWA (LHA 1), USS HORNE(CG 30) and as an instructor at EM C-7 C school, reaching the rank of EMC(SW). He was selected to the Enlisted Commissioning Program in 1995 and earned a BA in ECONOMICS from UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS-Chicago and was commissioned in May 1997. For sea duty, his first division officer assignment was in USS PENSACOLA (LSD 38) as the Auxiliary/Electrical Officer. Following selection for Department Head via the Early Roller program and was assigned to USS HAWES (FFG 53) and then USS ANZIO (CG 68).

For shore duty, he was assigned to TACTICAL TRAINING GROUP ATLANTIC as the STRIKE OFFICER, COMMANDER US NAVAL FORCES CENTRAL COMMAND/COMMANDER FIFTH FLEET as the Joint Fires Officer and NAVAL SPECIAL WARFARE DEVELOPMENT GROUP as the TACTICAL D&E SQUADRON ONE Operation Officer. He was also assigned in support of JFT's as a Fires Officer and an OIC of an Auxiliary Afloat Forward Staging Base.

He earned an MA in ECONOMICS from Old Dominion University and has completed his JPME PH I. He is authorized to wear the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corp Commendation Medal (5 awards) and the Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medal (4 awards).
