  • Placed in service, date unknown, ENS. C. F. Lamb USNR Officer in Charge (May 1945)
  • During World War II LCT(5)-179 was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater:
    LCT Flotilla Fourteen, LCDR. A. Z. Kouri, USNR;
    LCT Group Forty-Two, LTjg. B. A. Wagner, USNR and participated in the following campaigns:

    Asiatic-Pacific Campaign
    Campaign and Dates Campaign and Dates
    Eastern New Guinea operations
    Lae occupation, 4 and 16 September 1943
    Bismarck Archipelago operation
    Arawe, New Britain, 20 December 1943
