Strive served the Navies of the United States and Norway.

Auk Class Minesweeper/Strive Class Coastal Minelayer:

  • Laid down 17 November 1941 by the American Shipbuilding Co., Cleveland, OH
  • Launched 16 May 1942
  • Commissioned USS Strive (AM-117), 27 October 1942
  • Placed out of commission, in reserve, 14 February 1946 at San Diego, CA and laid up in the Pacific Reserve Fleet, San Diego Group
    Naval Vessel Register of 1 January 1949 lists out of commission, in reserve as December 1945
  • Recommissioned 1 January 1952
  • Decommissioned 8 January 1955 at Green Cove Springs, FL and laid up in the Atlantic Reserve Fleet, Florida Group, Green Cove Springs
  • Reclassified as a Fleet Minesweeper (Steel hulled), MSF-117, 5 February 1955
  • Conversion to a Coastal Minelayer began 15 September 1958
  • Reclassified as a Coastal Minelayer, MMC-1, 31 October 1958
  • Struck from the Naval Register 1 October 1959, transferred to Norway and renamed Gor (N 48)
  • Fate unknown.

  • Speed 18.1 kts.
  • Complement 105
  • Armament: One 3"/50 dual purpose gun mount, two single 40mm gun mounts, two single 20mm gun mounts, two depth charge tracks and five depth charge projectors
  • Propulsion: Two 1,766shp General Motors 12-278 diesel engines, Farrel- Birmingham single reduction gear, two shafts.
