Advocate only served in the Soviet Navy

Admirable Class Minesweeper:

  • Originally planned as Advocate (AMc 115)
  • Reclassified AM-138, 21 February 1942
  • Laid down 8 April 1942 by the Tampa Shipbuilding Co., Tampa, FL
  • Launched 1 November 1942
  • Completed 25 June 1943 and transferred to the Soviet Union and reclassified T-111 the same day
  • Named Senior Lieutenant Lekarev 13 April 1944
  • Used as a training vessel between 15 January - 12 March 1945
  • Reclassified by U.S. Navy as a Fleet Minesweeper (Steel Hull), MSF-138, 7 February 1955
  • Returned to U.S. Navy custody 11 June 1956 (on paper only)
  • Reclassified as a Torpedo Carrier, TV-25, 3 November 1956
  • Reclassified as an Accommodation Vessel, PKZ-35, 14 May 1963
  • Scrapped 4 June 1969 and struck from the Soviet Navy list
  • Struck from the Navy Register 1 January 1983.

    Dictionary of American Naval Fighting Ships History: Advocate (AM-138) was laid down on 8 April 1942 at Tampa, Fla., by the Tampa Shipbuilding Co.; launched on 1 November 1942; sponsored by Mrs. A. K. Brown; and completed on 25 June 1943. She was transferred to the Soviet Navy that same day as T-111. The Soviets have retained her since that time. Advocate was carried on the American Navy list— as MSF-138 after 7 February 1955—until struck from that list on 1 January 1983.
