AM-337 was built for Great Britain

Algerine Class Minesweeper:

  • Laid down 14 December 1942 as AM-337 by Toronto Shipbuilding, Ltd., Toronto, Ontario, Canada (Renamed Redfern Construction Company in August 1943)
  • Launched 12 April 1943
  • U.S. Navy contract canceled 20 December 1943
  • Contract taken over by Royal Navy and completed 8 June 1944 as HMS Thisbe (J 302)
  • Reclassified M-302
  • Scrapped in November 1957.

  • Length 225'
  • Beam 35' 6"
  • Draft 8' 6"
  • Speed 16.5 kts.
  • Complement 85
  • Armament: One 4" and eight 20mm mounts
  • Propulsion: Two verticle triple expansion reciprocating steam engines, two shafts.
