AM-480 Class Fleet Minesweeper: Laid down 11 April 1952 as AM-482 by the Astoria Marine Construction Co., Astoria, OR; Launched 6 March 1954; Sponsored by Mrs. W. J. Peterson; Completed 18 January 1955; Transferred to the Netherlands 31 January 1955 as Onvervaard (M 888); Reclassified by U. S. Navy as an Ocean Minesweeper, MSO-482, 7 February 1955; Reclassified A-858 in August 1965; Sold for scrap 14 November 1984 to Deans Marine Ltd. of Sheerness, United Kingdom.
Specifications: Displacement 750 t.; Length 171'; Beam 35'; Draft 10' 4"; Speed 15 kts; Complement 39; Armament, one 40-mm and two .50 cal. machine guns; Propulsion General Motors 1,600shp diesel enginess, two shafts.
