Pipit Class Coastal Minesweeper: Laid down in 1936 as F/V City of San Pedro by the Harbor Boat Building Co., Terminal Island, CA; Acquired by the Navy, 18 October 1940; Renamed Magpie 29 October 1940; Placed in service as USS Magpie (AMc 2), 28 March 1941; Placed out of service, 6 October 1944; Struck from the Navy Register 22 December 1944; Transferred to the War Shipping Administration for return to her owner. Fate unknown.
Specifications: Displacement 210 t.; Length 85' 4"; Beam 23' 4"; Draft unknown; Speed 10 kts; Complement unknown; Armament two .30 cal. machine guns; Propulsion diesel, one shaft.
