MSI-1 Class Inshore Minesweeper:

  • Laid down 22 April 1959 as MSI-12 under the Mutual Defense Assistance Program by the Naval Dockyard, Copenhagen, Denmark
  • Launched 1 March 1961
  • Commissioned Sandvig (M 581), 1 February 1962
  • Decommissioned 30 August 1974, sold and converted to a private yacht
  • Fate unknown.

    Specifications:

  • Displacement 193 t.
  • Length 114'
  • Beam 22' 8"
  • Draft 7' 6"
  • Speed 13.1 kts.
  • Complement 20
  • Armament: Two Mk M/42 twin 20mm mounts (Reduced in 1963 to one Mk M/42 20mm mount)
  • Propulsion: Two 1,100hp Werkspoor diesel engines, two shafts.
