  • Reclassified by U. S. Navy as a Coastal Minesweeper, MSC-185, 7 February 1955
  • Laid down 2 May 1955 by Gusto v/h fa. F. A. Smulders, Schiedam, The Netherlands under the off-shore procurement plan of the Military Defense Assistance Pact and based on the design of the British "Ton" Class

  • Launched 21 July 1956
  • Completed 20 December 1956
  • Commissioned Staphorst (M 828), 23 January 1957
  • Underwent Fleet Rehabilitation and Modernization (FRAM) program in 1974
  • Placed out of service 20 January 1984 and struck from the Naval Register
  • Sold for scrap 19 March 1987 to the Westmetaal Co. of Amsterdam, Holland
  • Fate unknown.
