  • Laid down in 1953 as Motor Minesweeper AMS-212 by Ch. Augustin Normand, Le Havre, France under the off-shore procurement plan of the Military Defense Assistance Pact
  • Launched 27 June 1953
  • Completed 30 October 1954 as Aldébaran (M 705)
  • Reclassified by U. S. Navy as a Coastal Minesweeper, MSC-212, 7 February 1955
  • Commissioned 26 June 1954
  • Scrapped in 1973.

  • Length 144'
  • Beam 27'
  • Draft 8' 3"
  • Speed 14 kts.
  • Complement 39
  • Armament: One 20mm mount
  • Propulsion: Two 880shp General Motors diesel engines, two shafts.
