MSC-291 was built for Iran

Albatross Class Coastal Minesweeper:

  • Laid down as MSC-291 by the Tacoma Boat Building Co., Tacoma, WA
  • Completed 18 September 1961 and transferred to Iran as Simorgh (MSC 33)
  • Sunk in 1981.

    Specifications:

  • Displacement 320 t.
  • Length 144'
  • Beam 28'
  • Draft 9'
  • Speed 13 kts.
  • Complement 50
  • Armament: Two .50 cal. machine guns and one 81mm mortar
  • Propulsion: Two Harnischfeger diesel engines, two shafts.
