MSC-294 Class Coastal Minesweeper:

  • Laid down as MSC-325 by Peterson Builders Inc., Sturgeon Bay, WI
  • Completed in 1978, transferred to Saudi Arabia and named Safwa (MSC 418)
  • Believe to have been phased out in 1997
  • Fate unknown.

  • Displacement 387 t.
  • Length 152' 9¾"
  • Beam 26' 11"
  • Draft 9'
  • Speed 13.3 kts.
  • Complement 39
  • Armament: One 20mm mount
  • Propulsion: Two 600bhp diesel engines, two shafts.
