Gleaves Class Destroyer/Ellyson Class Highspeed Minesweeper: Laid down 14 June 1941 at the Boston Navy Yard, Boston, Mass; Launched 10 December 1941; Commissioned USS Doran (DD-634), 4 August 1942; Reclassified and converted to Highspeed Minesweeper, DMS-41, 30 May 1945; Decommissioned 29 January 1947 at San Diego and laid up in the Pacific Reserve Fleet; Reclassified as a Destroyer Minesweeper, DMS, 7 February 1955; Reclassified back to a Destroyer, DD-634, 15 July 1955; Struck from the Navy Register 15 January 1972; Sold for scrap 1 September 1973 by the Defense Reutilization and
Marketing Service.

Specifications: Displacement 1,630 t.(lt), 2,200 t.(fl); Length 347' 10"; Beam 36' 1" ; Draft 15' 8"; Speed 37 kts; Complement 261; Armament four 5"/38 gun mounts, four 40mm, five 20mm, six dcp, two dct; Propulsion four boilers, two steam turbines, two shafts.
