  • The second Barbet was laid down as YMS-45, 20 June 1941 by the Wheeler Shipbuilding Corp., Brooklyn, NY
  • Launched 20 April 1942
  • Completed 5 June 1942
  • Commissioned USS YMS-45, 8 June 1942
  • Decommissioned 5 August 1946 at New York and placed in reserve
  • Placed in service 13 January 1947 as a school ship for reservists of the 3d Naval District (New York)
  • Named Barbet, reclassified as a Motor Minesweeper, AMS-41, 19 August 1947
    Naval Vessel Register of 1 January 1949 lists reclassification date as September 1947
  • Placed in commission in reserve 11 May 1950
  • Recommissioned 21 November 1950
  • Reclassified as a Coastal Minesweeper (Old), MSC(O)-41, 7 February 1955
  • Decommissioned 17 June 1955 at Green Cove Springs, FL
  • Struck from the Naval Register 1 November 1960 and scrapped.

  • Speed 15 kts.

  • Armament: One 3"/50 dual purpose gun mount, two 20mm mounts and two depth charge projectors
