YMS-1 Class Auxiliary Motor Minesweeper:

  • Laid down 18 July 1942 as YMS-157 by the Burger Boat Co., Manitowoc, WI
  • Launched 1 December 1942
  • Completed 15 April 1943
  • Transferred to Great Britain 28 April 1943 and reclassified HM J-957
  • Reclassified BYMS-2157
  • Returned to U.S. Navy custody in 1946
  • Struck from the Naval Register 28 August 1947
  • Transferred to the State Department, Foreign Liquidation Commission in April 1948
  • Fate unknown.

  • Beam 24' 6"
  • Draft 8'
  • Speed 15 kts.
  • Complement 32
  • Armament: One 3"/50 dual purpose gun mount, two 20mm mounts, and two depth charge projectors
