BYMS-5 was built for Great Britain and also served in the South Korean Navy.
BYMS-1 Class Motor Minesweeper: Laid down 31 October 1941 as BYMS-5 by the Wheeler Shipbuilding Corp., Whitestone, NY; Reclassified J-805; Launched 17 August 1942; Completed and transferred to Great Britain 14 September 1942; Reclassified BYMS-2005; Returned to U.S. custody 12 November 1946; Struck from the Navy Register 13 December 1946; Transferred to South Korea 10 May 1947 as Kil Chu (YMS 514); Scrapped in 1956.
Specifications: Displacement 270 t.; Length 136'; Beam 24' 6"; Draft 8'; Speed 15 kts; Complement 32; Armament one single 3"/50 gun mount, two 20mm, and two dcp; Propulsion two 880bhp General Motors 8-268A diesel engines, Snow and Knobstedt single reduction gear, , two shafts.
