BYMS-15 was built for Great Britain.

BYMS-1 Class Motor Minesweeper:

  • Laid down 17 July 1941 as BYMS-15 by the Dachel-Carter Shipbuilding Corp., Benton Harbor, MI
  • Launched 25 March 1942
  • Completed, transferred to Great Britain 21 July 1942 and reclassified HMS J-815
  • Reclassified HMS BYMS-2015
  • Returned to U.S. custody 3 September 1946
  • Struck from the Naval Register 13 December 1946
  • Transferred to the State Department, Foreign Liquidation Commission 21 October 1947 and sold
  • Fate unknown.

  • Displacement 270 t.
  • Length 136'
  • Beam 24' 6"
  • Draft 8'
  • Speed 15 kts.
  • Complement 32
  • Armament: One 3"/50 dual purpose gun mount, two 20mm mounts and two depth charge tracks
  • Propulsion: Two 880bhp General Motors 8-268A diesel engines, Snow and Knobstedt single reduction gear, two shafts.
