BYMS-2018 served the Navies of Great Britain and Korea.

BYMS-1 Class Motor Minesweeper:

  • Laid down 23 July 1941 as BYMS-18 by Bellingham Iron Works, Inc., Bellingham, WA
  • Launched 2 May 1942
  • Completed and transferred to Great Britain 16 July 1942
  • Reclassified HMS J-818 and HMS BYMS-2018
  • Returned to U.S. custody 31 July 1946
  • Transferred to South Korea 30 August 1947
  • Commissioned ROKS Gyeongsan (YMS 515) 21 September 1947
  • Grounded and damaged beyond repair in February 1948
  • Struck from the Naval Register 18 June 1948
  • Fate unknown.

  • Beam 24' 6"
  • Draft 8'
  • Speed 15 kts.
  • Complement 32
  • Armament: One 3"/50 dual purpose gun mount, two 20mm mounts, and two depth charge projectors
  • Propulsion: Two 880bhp General Motors diesel engines, Snow and Knobstedt single reduction gear, two shafts.
