BYMS-32 served the Navies of Great Britain and Finland.

BYMS-1 Class Motor Minesweeper:

  • Laid down 21 May 1942 as BYMS-32 by the American Car and Foundry Co., Wilmington, DE
  • Launched 29 October 1942
  • Completed 9 April 1943
  • Transferred to Great Britain and reclassified HMS J-832
  • Reclassified HMS BYMS-2032, 10 April 1943
  • Transferred to the State Department, Foreign Liquidation Commission in February 1948
  • Returned to U.S. custody 19 May 1948, sold to Finland and named Tammenpaa
  • Scrapped in 1958.

  • Length 136'
  • Beam 24' 6"
  • Draft 8'
  • Speed 15 kts.
  • Complement 32
  • Armament: One 3"/50 dual purpose gun mount, two 20mm mounts and two depth charge tracks
  • Propulsion: Two 880bhp General Motors 8-268A diesel engines, Snow and Knobstedt single reduction gear, two shafts.
