BYMS-2033 served the Navies of Great Britain and Greece.

BYMS-1 Class Motor Minesweeper:

  • Laid down 1 June 1942 as BYMS-33 by American Car and Foundry Co., Wilmington, DE
  • Launched 6 January 1943
  • Completed 1 June 1943
  • Transferred to Great Britain 3 June 1943 and named HMS J-833
  • Renamed HMS BYMS-2033
  • Returned to U.S. custody 1 January 1946 and loaned to Greece as Kalymnos (M 201)
  • Transferred permanently to Greece 22 July 1952
  • Struck from the Naval Register in 1973
  • Fate unknown.

  • Length 136'
  • Beam 24' 6"
  • Draft 8'
  • Speed 15 kts.
  • Complement 32
  • Armament: One 3"/50 dual purpose gun mount, two 20mm mounts and two depth charge projectors
  • Propulsion: Two 880bhp General Motors diesel engines, Snow and Knobstedt single reduction gear, two shafts.
