BYMS-34 served the Royal Navy and Greek Customs
BYMS-1 Class Motor Minesweeper:

  • Laid down 22 June 1942 as BYMS-34 by the American Car and Foundry Co., Wilmington, DE
  • Launched 11 March 1943
  • Completed 28 June 1943
  • Transferred to Great Britain and reclassified HM J-834, 29 June 1943
  • Reclassified HM BYMS-2034
  • Transferred to the State Department, Foreign Liquidation Commission in August 1947
  • Returned to U.S. custody 1 September 1947 and sold to Greek Customs as a contraband chaser
  • Fate unknown.

  • Length 136'
  • Beam 24' 6"
  • Draft 8'
  • Speed 15 kts.
  • Complement 32
  • Armament: One 3"/50 dual purpose gun mount, two 20mm mounts and two depth charge tracks
  • Propulsion: Two 880bhp General Motors 8-268A diesel engines, Snow and Knobstedt single reduction gear, two shafts.
