BYMS-1 Class Motor Minesweeper:

  • Laid down 27 May 1942 as BYMS-39 by the Barbour Boat Works, New Bern, NC
  • Launched 14 October 1942
  • Completed 14 June 1943
  • Transferred to Great Britain 16 June 1943 and reclassified J-839
  • Reclassified BYMS-2039
  • Returned to U.S. custody 12 May 1948 and transferred to the State Department, Foreign Liquidation Commission
  • Sold 14 May 1948.
  • Fate unknown.

  • Beam 24' 6"
  • Draft 8'
  • Speed 15 kts.
  • Complement 32
  • Armament: One 3"/50 dual purpose gun mount, two 20mm mounts and two depth charge projectors
