BYMS-1 Class Motor Minesweeper:

  • Laid down 10 April 1942 as BYMS-45 by the Gibbs Corp., Jacksonville, FL
  • Launched 4 July 1942
  • Completed 31 December 1942
  • Transferred to Great Britain and reclassified J-845, 14 January 1943
  • Reclassified BYMS-2045
  • Returned to U.S. custody 31 July 1946
  • Struck from the Naval Register 25 September 1946
  • Transferred to the State Department, Foreign Liquidation Commission 21 October 1947 and sold
  • Fate unknown.

  • Length 136'
  • Beam 24' 6"
  • Draft 8'
  • Speed 15 kts.
  • Complement 32
  • Armament: One 3"/50 dual purpose gun mount, two 20mm mounts and two depth charge tracks
  • Propulsion: Two 880bhp General Motors 8-268A diesel engines, Snow and Knobstedt single reduction gear, two shafts.
