BYMS-52 was built for Great Britain.

BYMS-1 Class Motor Minesweeper:

  • Laid down 7 July 1942 as BYMS-52 by the Gibbs Corp., Jacksonville, FL
  • Launched 3 October 1942
  • Completed 18 May 1943
  • Transferred to Great Britain 21 May 1943 and reclassified J-852
  • Reclassified BYMS-2052
  • Transferred to the State Department, Foreign Liquidation Commission in August 1947
  • Returned to U.S. custody 14 May 1948 and sold
  • Fate unknown.

  • Length 136'
  • Beam 24' 6"
  • Draft 8'
  • Speed 15 kts.
  • Complement 32
  • Armament: One 3"/50 dual purpose gun mount, two 20mm mounts and two depth charge tracks
  • Propulsion: Two 880bhp General Motors 8-268A diesel engines, Snow and Knobstedt single reduction gear, two shafts.
